Paid Time Off
Fifteen paid days off before vacation even starts — plus accrual that grows every year, 40 hours of Wellness Days, and a sabbatical at ten years.
15 paid days off a year
Nine closure days, two floating holidays and a four-day company shutdown — separate from your vacation accrual.
2026 holidays — we are closed
- New Year’s Holiday — Thursday, January 1
- MLK Day — Monday, January 19
- Memorial Day — Monday, May 25
- Juneteenth — Friday, June 19
- Independence Day, observed — Friday, July 3
- Labor Day — Monday, September 7
- Thanksgiving Break — Thursday, November 26 and Friday, November 27
- Christmas Day — Friday, December 25
Full-time employees receive paid time off based on a normal straight-time work day, not to exceed eight hours. Part-time employees receive pro-rata based on average hours worked.
2 floating holidays
Use them for whatever additional federal, cultural or religious holiday you choose.
Floats cannot be carried over and are not paid out on termination.
Company shutdown — December 28 to 31
Four days between Christmas and New Year when most operations pause and everyone rests at the same time. Critical functions may need limited coverage — check with your functional leadership.
The holiday schedule is subject to change annually and is typically distributed during open enrollment.
How your vacation builds up
Vacation accrues bi-weekly from your date of hire and grows with each year of service. You can see your available hours in the payroll system at any time.
| Years of service | Days per year | Hours per year | Accrued each pay period |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 10 | 80 | 3.08 |
| 2 | 11 | 88 | 3.38 |
| 3 | 12 | 96 | 3.69 |
| 4 | 13 | 104 | 4.00 |
| 5 | 14 | 112 | 4.31 |
| 6 | 15 | 120 | 4.62 |
| 7 | 16 | 128 | 4.92 |
| 8 | 17 | 136 | 5.23 |
| 9 | 18 | 144 | 5.54 |
| 10 | 19 | 152 | 5.85 |
| 11+ | 20 | 160 | 6.16 |
You can carry over 5 days — anything above that is lost
Up to 5 unused vacation days, 40 hours, carry into the next year. Anything above that is forfeited if unused at year end.
Accrued and unused vacation is paid out at termination. Final paychecks include deductions for any negative balance.
You can borrow against future accrual
Need more time than you have accrued? You may request to borrow up to 40 hours against future accrual, repaid from future accruals as they are earned.
The policy’s own example: with 20 hours accrued and 40 needed, borrowing 20 hours at an accrual rate of 4.00 repays over 5 pay periods, about 10 weeks.
Three more kinds of paid time
Wellness Days — 40 hours
Paid time for illness, mental health, caring for a sick family member, or other personal wellness needs. Granted up front and reloaded every January.
Cannot be carried over and are not paid out on termination. These replace the old sick-day category.
Birthday PTO — 1 day
One paid day off each year for your birthday. Take it within your birth month or shortly after — it cannot be used in advance.
All hours on the same day. Submit through your manager at least two weeks ahead. Cannot be carried over, cashed out, or paid at termination.
Sabbatical — 4 weeks at 10 years
Up to four weeks paid at 100% of base pay at ten years of service.
Granted at the service milestone. Not carried over or paid out.
Time off and leave are different things
Vacation and Wellness Days are time your employer grants. MA PFML and FMLA are statutory leave programs for serious health conditions, new children and family care — with their own paperwork and protections.
For anything longer than a few days, start with the leave pages rather than booking vacation.
